Learning Through Play
Ruskin Road Pre-School provides a safe and happy learning environment in which your child can develop self-esteem and independence through a variety of stimulating learning experiences. These are tailored to their individual needs and stages of development with a range of activities for individual and/or groups to achieve specific learning outcomes.
The emphasis is on learning through play, providing children with opportunities to:
- Observe the environment first hand
- Extend language skills
- Interact with others
- Make independent choices, decisions and solve problems
- Develop body awareness and self-care skills
- Express feelings in a socially acceptable manner
- Develop a positive self-concept
- Build on their existing knowledge and confidence
- Explore their own and other cultures.
Our pre-school programme is carefully constructed to allow for the development of positive self-esteem, independence and personal development within the seven areas of learning as defined in the Early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design.
Each month we investigate a new topic that allows your child to explore the areas above through related games, discussions, activities, etc. These topics are related to our environment and current world events & dates.
